Hi, I am Xiang Chen, Ph.D. I am currently an Associate Professor and Master’s Supervisor at the School of Computer Science and Engineering, Hunan University of Science and Technology (HNUST), and also serve as the Deputy Director of the Department of Computer Science and Technology.
I received my bachelor’s degree from Central South University (CSU) in 2010, my master’s degree from Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) in 2012, and my Ph.D. from CSU in 2021. Since joining HNUST in August 2021, I have been engaged in teaching and research in computer science and engineering.
My research focuses on bioinformatics, with particular emphasis on AI algorithm design for single-cell omics data analysis. To date, I have published 10 SCI-indexed journal papers in journals including Briefings in Bioinformatics, Bioinformatics, IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics (JBHI), and IEEE/ACM Transactions on Computational Biology and Bioinformatics (TCBB). I have also published 10 peer-reviewed EI-indexed conference papers at international conferences such as IEEE BIBM and ISBRA.
I have participated in four national-level research projects in China, including projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). I am currently the principal investigator of one NSFC-funded project and one project funded by the Hunan Provincial Department of Education.
In addition, I serve as a communication review expert for the NSFC, a Program Committee member for conferences such as IEEE BIBM, ACM-BCB, and ISBRA, and have acted as Session Chair at IEEE EdgeCom 2023 and EAI SecureComm 2025. I am also a reviewer for several journals, including Briefings in Bioinformatics, Bioinformatics, PLOS Computational Biology and Big Data Mining and Analytics.
